One Of The Last Operating Drive In’s in Australia

The Mareeba Rodeo Drive In is getting set for the beginning of their peak season. The Northern Hemisphere summer (our winter) is when most of the big films get released , which makes it an ideal time to rug up and head up the hill to the Rodeo Drive In , where you can see 2 of the latest films under the clear skies at their outdoor cinema. Popular movies such as Shrek Forever After, Toy story 3, Eclipse and a Twilight triple play are included in the blockbuster program, which definately will pull in some great crowds. Located approximately 45 minutes from Cairns, it’s the perfect family entertainment option.

The Rodeo Drive In is the only remaining drive in cinema in the far north and one of only 11 still open in the country! It is open every Friday and Saturday night and screens 2 of the latest films each night. Andrew and Helen Jones have run their original 1950′s drive in movie theatre and outdoor cinema for the previous 6 years – it is their passion.

The projection room is like a virtual museum with all original 35mm Vintage projectors. The owners laughed, “most people think we just press play on a giant DVD machine!” The couple invite anyone who would like to have a private viewing of the projection room in action!

The drive in still has the old fashioned speakers you place inside your car, although most choose to tune their radio into the ‘drive in frequency’ and hear their favourite movies through their own car radio.

It is a very family friendly environment as mums don’t have to stress if the children talk and move around as they don’t disturb anyone else, as mums can park away from other people, unlike being at the cinema.

Following the Whitsundays Cairns must be one of the ultimate destinations to have fun in Australia. It was that good I even went there twice in the course of my time downunder. The Great Barrier Reef from Cairns appeared to be secondary.

That’s where I completed my SSI Open water scuba dive course. I did it with Cairns Dive Centre on a 4 day live aboard scuba training course that was absolutely wonderful. I actually at first checked out going with a business known as Down Under Dive but they seemed very amateurish and I’d read many a good thing about their dive training. Additionally after a lot more digging I learned that they had possibly one of the best dive pools .

Their scuba dive boat has been recently entirely renovated and has just about all the better technology fitted. They have very nice air conditioned rooms which cater for 2-4 people, has a substantial saloon, lounge and even its very own bar. Of course it even has a small spa on the front deck to sit in and have a beer . The actual meals was superb and created in a very well built kitchen, among the best foods they offered was Barbecue Coral Trout . Yummy .

The actual liveaboard dive boat is always based at the diving site which would move every evening to other parts of the reef, which would either be performed over night if some distance or early in the morning if a short distance . This was pretty good as you are free to experience a variety of reefs and have a truly unique dive trip . This dive school had a quick transfer vessel that takes you there and back again which also permits you to spend as many days and nights onboard as you’d like.

I truly couldn’t recommend anyone else to instruct people to Learn to Dive in Cairns however if you choose to look somewhere else be diligent whenever selecting a dive operator in Cairns as some dive schools utilize hotel pools on your theory portion of the training course

Ok, even though, the sensation of diving in nature with nothing on is relaxing. For that reason, you may actually find a variety of naked scuba organizations comprising people that enjoy being free whilst in the ocean. Diving without any clothes is very exhilarating, enabling the sea to caress your body organically. The amount of people who delight in nude scuba diving could possibly shock you.

Besides the great feeling that you will get whilst diving nude, there’s also the safety concerns. For example, some subtropical and tropical marine environments have problems with sea lice that will end up captured under clothing. The concern is that sea lice can bite and it can be uncomfortable. Having said that, sea lice really don’t stick to uncovered skin, meaning people may scuba dive undressed and not have to bother about these irritating creatures. Keep in mind it is suggested body hair be trimmed or even shaved.

Also, naked diving also helps the diver to become better mindful of the underwater environment, which actually demonstrates better scuba diving capabilities. For example, underwater, one can find stones, cliffs, reefs, together with other stuff that when brushed against having a wetsuit will do damage to costly gear and even generate a safety threat. By experiencing the environment on our bodies, you feel far more conscious of your scuba diving and the surroundings, which suggests becoming more mindful.

In the same way there are several advantages of nude scuba diving, there are a few pitfalls too. In this specific circumstance, guy divers must stay away from the technique of feeding fish. The rationale is the fact that some species of fish can’t tell food from a male’s appendage, hence resulting in a rather nasty bite. Additionally, males should protect them selves while in big schools of fish. While this can sound amusing, it can be a problem and bites do occur. As a result, try to be alert to environmental surroundings while scuba diving without a wetsuit or bathing suit so that you take the correct defensive measures.

Remarkably, quite a few divers now are trying naked diving and discovering they love it. Below are a couple of sites which tolerate nude diving should you decide on it personally:

Mexico
*	Yucatan, Mayan Corridor – Playa Del Carman

Honduras
*	West End Bay

Antigua
*	Hawksbill

Bahamas
*	Nassau (Breezes)

Dominican Republic
*	Hispaniola (Eden Bay Resort)

Jamaica
*	Runaway Beach (Breezes)

Perth’s backpacker hostels have achieved bursting point, with tourism bodies anxious with the administration of non-accredited operators owing to unprecedented large demand.

Each and every bed in Perth’s hostel accommodation was booked out last Friday evening, in accordance to well-known backpacker reserving website hostelworld.com.

An investigation by The West Australian last week discovered West Perth backpacker hostel Planet Inn was making it possible for visitors to rest on a sofa for $16 an evening.

When asked in regards to the lodging alternative, a supervisor in the hostel stated they didn’t supply the sofa like a sleeping arrangement due to the fact it might breach their lodging licence.

City of Vincent chief govt John Giorgi stated the council would examine operations of the house for virtually any breach of neighborhood regulations and motion will be taken if essential.

Tourism Council chief executive Evan Corridor mentioned most WA backpacker lodging suppliers had been performing a terrific task but some “rogue operators” have been making the most of tourists.

He said backpacker hostels housing far more friends than they had been certified to hold could possibly be in breach of developing codes and hearth basic safety expectations.

Grievances in opposition to operators who have been accredited from the Tourism Council could possibly be investigated but those who ended up not, like World Inn, could only be investigated with the State Government’s client affairs division if a buyer complained.

Airlie Beach Race Week will be held between 10th and 16th August 2012. Whitsunday Sailing Club will pull out the welcome mat and enable a high amount of new sailors to relish the weather and amenities when they host the event later this season.

The happy group of club volunteers still go on about witnessing the record smashing New Zealand trimaran Group Vodafone in full flight a year ago.

There is a strong possibility that Sean Langman’s Team Australia which smashed the Multihull Brisbane to Gladstone race before daybreak on Easter Saturday early morning will add towards the thrills at Airlie Beach Race Week 2012.

Team Australia, a similar ORMA sixty to the thrilling speed sailing Team Vodafone, portrayed her breathtaking speed potential when Sean Langman winner of two of three fastest times in the mono hull classic with AAPT Grundig established the quickest ever time for all classes of ocean racing when they finished the actual race at 3-28-21 on Easter Saturday.

They recorded a high speed of 32.8 knots and a very fast average of 18.70 knots in order to take 2 hours 26 minutes 48 seconds of the previous record set by the Melbourne Martyn Riley skippered catamaran Uncooked Nerve in 2004.

Naturally this kind of result and the probability of the two quickest yachts Team Australia and Team Vodafone going head to head near Airlie Beach to resolve which ocean racing crew may have the right to claim the fastest ocean racer in The Southern Hemisphere stands alone as a key drawcard.

The standard Trans Tasman competition will be the key subject to change however the super charged Team Australia has already proved that her boat speed and it is very clear Team Vodafone is capable of responding to the task.

Those two exciting triple hull sprint machines raced by skilled thrill seeking mariners guarantee to be the main attraction at Airlie Beach Race Week whenever their sails are tensioned for which guarantees to be the most interesting match race ever staged in the Whitsundays.

I’ve truly wanted to learn to scuba dive my whole life. And with a vacation rapidly getting close to Cairns I thought I’d better learn fast.

I actually contacted some nearby dive centres and these people made the situation all appear incredibly tough and daunting in addition to being highly-priced. Consequently a tad shattered I googled the internet for “Cairns Scuba Schools” . And what a fantastic approach that had been. I was offered nearly 100′s of possibilities about Cairns scuba schools along with local travel agencies only too happy to guide us be able to scuba dive.

Afterwards mailing plenty of email messages with no shortage of queries I was pleased to uncover that the problem wasn’t as distressing, tough or unaffordable as I’d previously found out. Generally in Cairns you could do a diving training course in four, five or maybe six days. Four days will be the mimimum required for getting ones PADI accreditation. A PADI accreditation is the planets largest and most accepted.The five and six day programs offer you extra scuba dives and you get to do a liveaboard at the Cairns Great Barrier Reef.

And after a bit of hard decision time I decided to purchase a 5 day liveaboard dive course. Fistly I had to get a dive medical checkup done. This should never stress anyone who is reasonably healthy and fit. If you have no serious ailments or breathing complications you should be Right. The particular largest trouble is actually Asthma I personally beleive.

The first 2 days are usually spent in the Pool and Schoolroom. This means you discover the basics of diving plus some very simple skills. The actual hardest component about it was needing to tread water for 20 minutes. And somewhat unfairly the chubbiest people float much better than the actual muscled types. Those beverages after work everyday eventually have helped me.

The third day you leave to the great barrier reef. You are transferred to your charter boat at the reef by a fast boat packed with day guests, however when you first get there they take you into the water. You begin the training dives instantly. The actual first four dives are an element of your course, in which you be taught a number of extra skills. Then you will be able to complete five more dives with zero lessons integrated. You’re now a qualified scuba diver. Plus I got a chance to undertake it at the Great Barrier Reef, definitely not in some dark murky urban center waters.
